About

This is Mrs. McDermott's 18th year of teaching and her third year teaching second grade! When she is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young sons, Jake and Nathaniel, and their spoiled dog, Phoebe. Mrs. McDermott loves to travel and go to the beach. Mrs. McDermott went to college in San Diego and earned her teaching credential in Santa Barbara. She earned her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.

Mrs. McDermott is passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students, and she strives to develop a positive rapport with each of the students in her class. Her priority is to create a challenging, organized, and resourceful learning environment that is supportive to all individuals and learning styles. She believes in creating opportunities for students to communicate, formulate questions, and generate ideas so they can have ownership and accountability for their success.
